BEACON: Biomarker Evaluation & Clinical Oncology Navigator¶

RareCan helps cancer patients access comprehensive genomic testing to find targeted therapies and clinical trials. However, deciding when to order a test and translating the resulting complex data into real-world treatment options requires navigating vast, rapidly evolving public biomedical databases. Your task is to build an AI-powered clinical decision support engine that assists with both pre-test decision-making and post-test analysis. Before a test, the system should ingest a patient’s clinical profile to estimate the likelihood of finding actionable genetic alterations and identify prospective treatments. After a test, it will automatically match identified genomic variants to actively recruiting UK trials and licensed therapies. The primary technical challenge lies in building an intelligent pipeline that dynamically queries, structures, and synthesizes data from disparate public sources (such as ClinicalTrials.gov and CIViC) against highly complex patient profiles. We will provide anonymised real-world patient data and genomic reports to guide your development. While our internal stack uses Azure, AWS and HubSpot, you have complete freedom to design the data architecture, search algorithms, and user interface to create a robust tool that could directly impact patient care.
